Seven Methods For a Christian in Debt to Save Extra Cash

Seven Ways For a Christian in Debt to Save More Money

As a Christian in debt, you need to find ways to save money. Some areas are off limits, such as tithing. You really need to honor God with what He has given you if you want His help getting out of debt. There are many other areas of your life though where you can cut back.

1. Stop eating out, or greatly reduce how often you go. You also might limit the places you go. Some are more expensive than others. If you really miss the food, check out some of the copycat cookbooks available and cook it at home. They’re really good.

2. Instead of going to the movie theater, rent a movie or watch one you already own. You could even buy previously-viewed videos much cheaper than going to the theater. If you really want to go to the theater, go to a matinee, and don’t go to the concession stand.

3. Buy store brands. They are much cheaper.

4. Make a list before you go shopping, and stick to it. If you don’t have a list, you will buy impulsively. How many times have you gone into the store for one thing and left with a dozen? Also, only go to the store when you aren’t hungry. Go after a meal or even a snack. If you are hungry, you are more likely to impulse buy.

5. When taking trips, try to stay with family and friends whenever practical. Hotels cost quite a bit. Doing this will allow you to take trips while saving money.

6. Make your own coffee. Coffee shops are not cheap. While it’s nice to have the occasional cafe mocha, five dollars at a time adds up fast. You could even get your own cappuccino machine.

7. Buy in bulk when it’s practical. If you need to do so, store or freeze the rest of it.

These are just a few ways for a Christian in debt to save more money. I hope you find them to be useful. Don’t wait to reduce your debt. With God’s help, you can be debt free before you know it.
